SMC student in Maltese National Team Squad
In January, St. Martin's College student, Luke Cesareo, made his debut with the U/16 Maltese National Team Squad, in a game against the Scottish U/16 side. Luke had an exceptional first 55 minutes, going very close to scoring the first goal of the encounter, and only being substituted as he was due to play a game a few days later for his club, Luxol. Despite brave efforts, our boys were defeated 2-0. However, although our squad was one year younger than that of our opponents, the game was an evenly-tied contest, which proved that we can compete up to this level. Last year, one of our former students, Zach Muscat, captained the Maltese U/17 side to a historic qualification with 4 points to the Finals of the UEFA Championships. We hope that Luke will taste similar success next September. We also hope that other St. Martin's College students enjoy success with the national team, whatever the sport.
